Although Vesen are now a trio, Emergent marks a "pre-Vesen" time. The project started as a vehicle for spontaneous improvisation as a guitar/drums duo with effects and electronics. Sketches for this EP began as small recorded ideas that were sent between Rob & James, and began to evolve into large scale recorded projects, in contrast to our live performances. These songs are a result of those initial ideas.

Everything you hear was created by Rob & James, and marks the end of the project as a duo. Callum Quinn has since joined on bass to allow Vesen to grow further.

Emergent sets out to express the sounds Vesen are exploring - luscious soundscapes, complex but satisfying rhythms & grooves, expansive harmony and subtle developments of ideas and motifs.
